In the process of replacing front sprocket and wondering if there should be shims behind sprocket so that there is no slack when putting locking plate on? There is some play in and out once it is on. No spline wear and it is snug when moving back and forth. My KLR650 has the same type of setup for securing sprocket but you put shims behind it to tighten things up a bit. Seems like you should have something in place behind sprocket. Thanks

Is the driveshaft diameter 28mm? I'm converting using inch tape. I read somewhere someone shimmed between retaining plate and sprocket to snug things up. Going to have someone back in states measure KLR shaft for me and send me my xtra shims if they will work
