I am, very soon , about to attack the staution seals on my XL700VA. One is starting to weep. What problems MIGHT I come up against whilst removing the fork legs. I have a strong voice. And an able assistant. !! Thanks Rick. !!!

Following the Haynes manual you have to hit the fork bushes together to seperate the forks. This damaged my bushes, I replaced them with Pyramid parts bushes which didn't fit so then had to buy genuine from Fowlers Honda. You need to make sure that each piece in the fork seal is seated correctly (so worth measuring the depths and stack heights) otherwise you won't get the spring clip to fit and you'll have to knock the bushes apart again. I used the old bushes to save damaging the new bushes. I also tried to use a plastic pipe to seat them as per the video below,

Just loosen up bottom bolt (damper) when both forks on bike. 41 mm seal driver or pvc pipe for upper bush/oil seal installation - pretty much all that can go wrong:thumbleft:
