You guys have got me paranoid...

Just putting my bike back together, and I notice the fuel pump is making a definite periodic CLUNK. At idle this occurs about every four seconds, and when I take it up to about 2k rpm it gets faster. The bike seemed to idle cleanly and everything, at least for the few minutes I ran it.

Is this likely to be bad? The pump would have been starved at first as I had disconnected the inlet hose, but I guess it should have filled up after a few moments' idling. This is a very low-mileage pump, as the bike has only covered about 15,000 miles from new.

Sounds like its working perfectly. It will increase the fuel rate with the higher revs. My pump packed up last summer but it was only dirty contacts so pump out, cap off and a good clean with fine grade sandpaper and away it went.
