The power supply for my Quest has fried. As in, instead of a nice gentle 5V it now produces a straight-up 12V. Moi Garmin didn't like that...

So I went shopping for a new one.

The official Garmin importer wants 80+ euro for a whole new all-in powered cradle thing. Pffuh.

Touratech want 43 euro for just a little power cable. Taking the piss...

DealExtreme want $3.75 including shipping for this, and the local Geek Emporium wants pennies for a set of male / female 3.5mm mono jacks.

Result! A nice simple 5V power supply for less than 5 euro.

Doh!! Wish I could think out of the box like that, Garmin charged me over £40 for the privledge of a new cable after frying the unit! Mine now has an in line fuse . You're right though, it's just a wire!!!

It's ugly, but functional.

Now all it needs is a 12V socket somewhere in the fairing...

I could've just soldered it all together, but I've put a jack on the 220V charger as well since I'd already butchered it to get at the last remaining functional Garmin connector in the house. They don't last all that long, unfortunately.
