I suppose that instead of "lurking around", I had better join up for this event as McVicar will need someone to push his mighty Varadado!Look forward to joining up with you all, will travel on further north after our meet.

If any one is interested in a slight detour
About 10 miles before Skye, at Auchertyre A890, 14 miles to T juction turn left to LochCarron, A896, about 5 miles, T junction, turn left, 2-3 miles to Bealach Na Ba. Get to 2000 feet and amazing views. Single track road last bit goes up mountain with several hairpin corners. Its alot better than it sounds. If the cloud is below 2000 feet, no views.

Note on petrol, Morrisons in Fort William, good price and Central Garage Kyle ( just before we go across Skye Bridge ).

I anyone needs a topup before detour, Inverinate 5 miles before. Bit expensive so splash and dash.

If I can get my s£$t together, I will ride down from Skye and see you at Glencoe.

Since you are coming all this way to Skye, there is a realy good run round the north of Scotland. Could go home this way.
Capsites scattered along route.
Route something like Skye, Garve, Ullapool (Good Fish and Chips), Durness, Melvich, Helmsdale(Best Fish and chips ever) and Inverness.
Could go to John O Groats but roads are flat and booring, adds 60 miles.
Have a look on Google earth.
312 miles form Skye round to Inverness.

From previous posts I expect this would lead to several divorces.

Just thought I would mention it.

I have not been camping with bike before, room obviously limited, no space for kitchen sink.
You all seem like old hands at it.
What must I not forget ?
I have got tent and sleeping bag and money on the list already.:joker:

Just think weight

Do you need it.
On the 'Long Way Round' they dumped half their gear and still managed.

I know a guy who cuts his tooth brush in half to save weight and space.

Have a practice in the garden and see how little you can cope with!!!!
Main thing is to keep warm and dry, a good nights sleep makes all the differance.

We tend to eat out so you could manage without a stove, someone will always make you a cup of tea.

Fewtrees gets all his stuff in two breadbins!!!! But to get size and weight of gear down costs money. A tent weighing 2kg costs over £200.
But a heavier one can be bought for £50.
Start off cheap and slowly replace.

Have fun

I think I'm actually going to be up for this rather than the Stella.
Finding it difficult to justify doing the Stella, but I can go for a romp with you guys for a few days. :)

I won't need waterproofs....West Coast....Skye....in the summer ? :p

Had a look at paniers, someones having a larf, £450 for the Honda ones. Looks like a job for some heavy duty plastic and a heatsealer. Actually that might not be as daft as it first sounds.

The wife is getting used me going now, I think she is looking forward to a peacefull tidy house.

Try Ebay for some throw overs bags. I got a new tankbag for £20.
My first Skye trip on the bike was with second hand bags for £10.

Anyway if it doesn't rain up there in summer why are the sheep so white.
And its called the 'Isle of Clouds'.:toothy7:
