The Tranny 600's are a cracking bike.

Hop on & fling 'em around twisty country lanes with aplomb

Look at Gnashers report on his recent purchase.
Things to look for (other than the 'usual' stuff on an older used bike),

* The CDI's (on earlier models) can fail if the seat crushes them - a mod from Honda available
* Wear on the gearbox output shaft (front sprocket shaft) - on a bike this age it will be uneconomic to repair.
* The rear hub (if drum brake) are nearly impossible to source now - if they are worn/cracked repair/replacement will be difficult/expensive
* Early 'black engined' bikes (with external oil feeds to the heads) can be prone to using oil at higher mileage.

Generally they just go on & on & would make a cracking buy for the right bike at the right price.

Yes.
I've had 2. In between them was a brand new TDM900 which lasted a year before I went back to a 600 Transalp.... by choice.

Oh yes, rust a bit .. but only on the surface. I have the Japanes made one and it is great fun, very verstile, simple to maintain (when you know what to do and HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS ...read spark plugs ..).

Anyway excellent buy for the money you need to fork out ..:thumbright:
and they are said to go many miles ...

Here is some more advice ..
http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=23299

Go for the later models (not the square lamp and black engine) late 1994 - 1995 onwards .. they have some improvements to engine and systems..

Good choice :D
