Keeping with the tradition of this forum of having dodgy knees I am now putting in a bid for the second worst knee of the forum.
I can't beat Boboneleg's KTM extension but I think I have knocked Sharribee into third place.
I finally had my knee operation on Monday. It turned out to have been more serious than they thought.
My cartilage was knackered on both sides so was totally removed. I had moderate (not even mild) arthritis, which was an added bonus and they salami sliced a piece of my hamstring to make a new cruciate ligament. That is held in place by two screws.
The good news is that my life insurance has come down as, when I die, they can get a lot for me at the scrap metal merchant (my right leg has a plate and seven screws in it too).
I have had to change my will from cremation to smelting.
So I am laid up in (or at least on the) bed for the next few days/weeks and may be on crutches for six weeks - though, obviously, once allowed to do more vigorous exercise I will be determined to improve quickly.
Will be back on the bike before Christmas I hope. Six weeks if I have anything to do with it.
I think there's someone else on the forum who could beat you hands down, especially as she's recently done a charity train journey for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) and calls herself RoboJo for a very good reason
Chris your welcome to second place and I really do sympathise loads with you
On the plus side, with all the horrible surgery I went through in the last couple of years my knee is now almost completely better so it was definitely worth it
On the downside I had my cruciate recnstruted with my patella elasticy bit (what holds your knee cap in place), they cut out the middle third and stretched it into where the cruciate goes and chopped out all the exploded cartiledge. All thanks to tackling Newports No8 in one of their opening training season matches and so ended my career
This November is 2 years on and I cant kneel down on it still and the cold gives me a feeling of someone poking a hot knife in behind my kneecap, the beginning of arthritis they say from being opened up.
Of course I like to cheer you up with positives:joker:
