as wednesday went bad for me with the alternator giving up on my van, yesterday being bank holiday here in france and no chance to get parts.........

DSCF0001.jpg
i took the opportunity (as you do) to go for a spin around what they call les gorges du verdon. AKA the french grand canyon.....
straight through Aups where i work.....
DSCF0002.jpg DSCF0004.jpg DSCF0005.jpg
off i went in the direction of aiguines....
DSCF0006.jpg DSCF0007.jpg
with a quick stop at the view point en route
arriving at aiguines
DSCF0008.jpg
where everyone washed their clothes previously
DSCF0009.jpg DSCF0011.jpg
from here on the road gets horrible and twisty with more hairpins than boots the chemist! :D
and the the views.........
DSCF0012.jpg DSCF0013.jpg DSCF0014.jpg DSCF0015.jpg
some parts of these roads are great to play BUT sometimes there's a bus full of tourists coming the other way!

if you missed it...on top of the rock in the last photo is a church! you'd need a graveyard if you walk up there!

cheers for that...
i had forgotton how beautifull that area is..once camped at the base of Castellan then walke up to the top by the statue in -5c ..then rode down the gorges route..and that was in late April..

seen many a French camper crash into those overhangs...

we will be down in the LOT shortly..Gravellons await..scary. then over to the Pyrenees for some trails..

The roads look fantastic. Reminds me of last time I was there, in a mate's battered Montego in 1996 - stayed in La Palud after being rained out of the Alps. Amazing geology! Think this one is called Dingomaniaque.

wow

great area ...
but, all your pics have a colour tinge to them, by the looks of it you have your white balance set wrong if its on auto it may need recalibrating.
shame to lose such fantastic sights.

sorry for the quality of the pics....to be honest its a cheap nasty 20 euro camera i'm using. i left my cam at home and just grabbed that quick as i was going up the gorges. looking out for a tidy one soon.

Lovely area and photos a great reminder of a trip for me
.
Unfortunately I only passed through Castellane on route to the coast and always regretted not stopping there and riding the Gorge.

Next time.............
