My son just got back from a weekend trip to the motorbike show that was on in Milan this weekend with his class from technical school which was paid for by Danish Metalworkers Trade Union.

As expected he had a great time and took loads of photos.
I thought you might like to see some of the bikes that were on show.

I will check out his other photos to see if I can find something else that might be of interest.

Enjoy

Some of the bikes from the Milan Bike Show are making me want to take my little CX 500 apart and build another cafe racer or a bobber out of it.

I think it was the body of big bird from sesame street they gutted his carcass and crammed a goldwing engine in the chest cavity and stuck some wheels on and voila :D

keep the photos coming the Fantic is a cool little thing I wonder if its stock or customised a little . my first moto cross boots were Fantic motor they weren't very water proof but grand and warm . the Goldwing is a ****ing joke I wouldn't be bothered with it . I was never into the whole trying to make a Honda look like a Harley or any kind of lets play pretend kind of nonsense . I might laugh and joke and act the ape but I take bikes very serious :hitler:

So do I mate and some of these bikes are making me want to start another project.
Jnr has got his eye on my CX 500 ,I sussed him out when a pair of ace bars arrived from ebay that I didnt order and he claimed he just wanted to see what they would look like on my bike.
He probably already has a new seat in mind for it and I have only owned the bike a couple of months.
Bloody kids huh? :-D:-D:-D

what about a Honda cb 400 super four they should be low enough power for him starting out with more affordable insurance and all and low tax rate to import from Germany if need be even ? I cant say I have seen one done but they are so much like the cb 750 from the 90's and they turn out really well . they is a few cracking ones on you tube .

a composite of the goldwing GS pics.
Had an early GW at the time so was camera clicking at many GWs.
Early GW are too expensive to do that now, possibly late 1000 or 1100, it would be an interesting exercise and using the GW frame would mean it would be VMCC eligible! Probably no worse a lump than some of the current 'adventure' bikes or the K750 trail bikes.

If your talking about the CB400F then I would agree with you mate.
They are as rare as a sober Irishman on St Patricks day and they sell for good money.
When I was a teenger tearing around on my Suzuki GT185 my best mate went out and bought one and the only thing I ever saw of it was its rear light as I was always left behind on ride outs.
Until I passed my test and bought a 1976 Yamaha RD350 that is and rode it like I stole it.

More pics anyone?

I just wish I had learned to weld when I had better eyesight :(:(:(

that's the one Fred they are quite a big looking bike and I wouldn't be at all surprised if a cbr 600 engine would slot straight in there if a young lad wanted to get one over on the insurance company and the powers that be or just wanted a retro style 600cc 4 cylinder Honda I know there is the hornet but the cb 400 looks better . the cx are a cool old bike but they have 70's brakes compared to 90's brakes alloy swing arm piggy back shocks the lot they handle well are a miser on fuel and can keep up with traffic and even over take a few people a race can and a rejet would make it much more entertaining for a young lad and make him popular with the neighbours . the last 2 ye done turned out well do the same kind of thing again but keep it a dual seat for giving the young ones a spin on the back or tying on a tail pack or what ever . good deals to be had in them a 400 a 750 or a 1000 any of them would do me I wouldn't even mind the 250cc 4 cylinder jade for the laugh . :D

I do like the look of the CB 400 super four but our choice of bike has to go through the good old Danish import tax scam the government runs.:(:(:(
If I could pick one up for about a grand I would probably be facing another grand in taxes and registration.
I think jnr would be happy with something a little more retro like this one.

I fancy getting another (had 3) early 80s Yamaha SR 500 and sticking a big bore kit on it ,let him learn how to use a kick start and make a man out of him.:grin::grin:

the cx are a cool old bike but they have 70's brakes compared to 90's brakes alloy swing arm piggy back shocks the lot they handle well are a miser on fuel and can keep up with traffic and even over take.
I dont think we have enough space to park another bike but I get your point about 90s brakes ,I had a Kawasaki 550 Zephyr before I bought the Dommie which was a nippy little beast that handled me and Jnr no problem for about 10 000 miles around Europe.
Jnr will be happy with whatever he gets and he is probably going to be wanting one of my younger brothers bikes when we fly to blighty the weekend after next for a pre christmas visit.
I am sure with all the things I have taught him about bikes since he was a rug rat and what he will learn in the future , I am certain he will be wanting to build his own project while he is busy impressing the local totty on his Dt125 LC.

a cb400ss I love them they are just perfect all they need is petrol its a real pity they never done one in a 650 . Japanese home market only probably . there is a 1997 Honda slr 650 on e bay uk ending in 2 days starting bid of £900 no bids yet . it just shows how to turn one into a very funky looking bike very easily . if the owner is on hear you done an amazing job on it man
