Hi all,
well I`m a happy bunny again , bike flew through Mot again :D, 3rd year running:eek: good old Honda relability and regular maintenance.

Strange though how each year I get the same advisory of "slight play in stearing Headbearings" and each year i adjust the play out .

Suppose This year I should replace as bike`s done 30k and used all year round, but I really aint looking forward to the job- recent posts.

So will entrust this job and skinned knuckles to my local Mechanic, as some things aint worth getting Mad about.

Do you use any particular make apart from Honda as i heard they are crap std.

I think most go for taper head bearings, if they fit the bike and are well greased to start with they should be fine.

I got an advisory last year for my front disks and rear pads, I changed the pads two days later and I replaced the front disks recently with new pads.

I know what your saying Talp, that its just an advisory. But considering the bikes my only transport and the bearings support the handle bars and wheels if they fail it wont be pretty.

Safety is first and foremost, I`ve just adjusted them again and still no gratting when turning from lock to lock so they aint pitted or anything.

Will ride the bike till next spring then get them changed for Tappered Bearings with loads good grease.:thumbright:.

strange these days how with advisorys on the MOT they crop up year after year were before it would be either Dangerous " thats a fail" or Pass. Its all down to the testers interpretation on the day, but the garage I use dont fix bikes so they aint after work and the guys honest:) rare these days.

I use "priory Garage" on titchfield hill Fareham for those interested.

For advisories (weasel words) you need to trust your own judgement. For head bearings, all Haynes bike manuals tell you how to check them. Do so. If OK leave alone and pack with grease. If not, then get your spanners out.
