Intermittent problem, hoping to nail it before it becomes a permanent problem - no light on when gear is in neutral.

For a while on my commute this morning, the neutral light stopped working. It was fine when I set off, stopped for a while, then was fine again.

Any ideas what to look at first? One-spanner idiot's guide please!

Find the neutral switch - it'll have 1 wire to it (as will the oil pressure switch)
Check for a good connection, make good if grubby.

Earth the wire (ign on) the neutral light should illuminate.
If it's temperamental, the problem is with the wire/circuit/bulb.
If it illuminates fine, the problem is with the switch.
I have made a temperamental newtral switch work fine by removing the washer & sealing with ptfe.

Intermittent problem is now permanent :-(

A brief tap of the instrument panel brought it back to life temporarily but now it's gone again. Hoping it's just the bulb, as that's a fairly easy fix...

Turned out to be a bulb in the instrument panel, again. Man this bike don't half eat bulbs!
