I went last year. If I can get free tickets again I might be up for it.

(It's not the cost of the show, it's the cost of the show on top of the petrol and long, boring trip along the A14 to get there!)

If you are blagging free tickets...... :thumb:
And the A14 sounds much better than the M1, especially with the god-awful roadworks right now.

Thinking about camping out on the Saturday night, found this site that allows open fires. Will be in the van as I have my son with me but all welcome to join us.:eek:ccasion5:

Or if anyone knows of a better one near the NEC shout up.:thumbright:

This is starting to sound good. I am supposed to take my daughter to Bourneville to go round the Cadbury factory, so maybe we could do the show on Saturday, camp and then do Bourneville on Sunday morning.

Just looked at the details of this site. Lovely though it sounds, it is almost nearer home than Birmingham.

Just checked on Multimap and it's 40 mile south of the NEC, 1 hour travel time.

If anyone knows of somewhere nearer let me know, just fancied the open fire thing.:D

On the other hand its nearer home for you guy's from the south.

And who wants to camp in Birmingham anyway?
Right. We're on. May even make it there Friday night - depends on my wife and what time my son leaves on his school trip that evening.

Diaries have been synchronised and I'm okay to camp on Saturday night.

I bought a new tent after my trip to the Lakes last month and I want to try it out.

I'll bring my axe for the firewood!

I'm gonna book some tickets for my daughter and me to the Outdoor show on Saturday and to Cadbury World on Sunday.
They reckon the Cadbury tour is about 1 3/4 hours, plus shopping time, claiming most visitors stay 3 hours. I reckon my daughter can shop faster than that. But allowing for breaking camp in the morning and at least an hour to get there, I think I'll book for the 12.10 session and hope to be away before 3pm so that we're home in time for dinner.

Another thought: anyone going to the campsite Friday night?
If not, I may go to a mate's near rugby so we can get to the NEC for the show opening at 9am. See it all and get to the campsite at a reasonable time.

Sorry guys I am really dissapointed :(
Know the feeling, I've had to book holiday to go to the show on Saturday.
Worth it though.:compress:
