Have you looked down the back of whatever your computer sits on. I invariably find that when something's gone missing in my house it's down the back of my desk. Stop me if I've got too technical there.

Found out what happened. Not good news.
Oulook adsked if I'd like to compact my messages to save disc space. I now understand that to compact means to delete, not to compress. Boom! End of story. No way of getting them back even using specialist Outlook Express recovery software.

Ahh the Joys of giving MicroSoft control.

I use a different mail client that really does just compress the white space in my mailbox. No MS Outlook or derivatives for me.

Used to run 3 UNIX servers at Home, now I use VM Ware and have all three running on my laptop :)

errr 6, but only one of them is always on :)

That's a lot of PC's I hear some of you cry. But they're older P2 and P3 boxes which the family use for surfing, email and homework.

The joys of Linux, and specifically Ubuntu is that it'll work happily on older PC's. All of the software is free, no virii... what more could you ask for.

Six, that must be recipe for RSI!! Glad to hear that you're keeping some old machines going, it's got to be better than using them for landfill.

Chad, the shoulder's still there, feeling like it's got a metal rod in it or something! Had the dressing removed yesterday and they've set me up for some physio, movement's really good - much better than I expected but it still feels a bit odd!
Spoke to a friend yesterday who hit a PO van when it pulled out in front of him in the summer, he broke his scapula but didn't want it plated 'cos he wanted to get out ASAP. As a result he's still got restricted movement and a gurt big lump where the fracture healed, so it's probably worth the discomfort. Mind you he did get a shiny brand new GSXR out of it 8)

Cheers

Another Linux user, I must admit I'm not 100% Linux yet, my home server is currently using M$ Server 2003 but one of my boxes in running Fedora, and I want to try Linux on the server some time. (it's mainly used as a media server running Slim Server which will run under Linux.)

Great for worry free web surfing.

edit:
Oh and for Email there is only one application, thats Thunderbird, at least a million times better than Outlook, we use it as the prefered email client at work and very rarely have major problems like lost messages, and it's FREE :D
