From my own entrenched, fifty-eight-year-old-fart-man point of view … At first, concerned that I might have been courting the derision of all you titties and beer loving Real Men (and Women), by posting that End The Page Three thing ...
But listen to me now, what really pisses me off is the arrogant assumption of the global Fashion&Beauty/Advertising/Media/Corporate/Cosmetic-Surgery/Lifestyle/Automobile/Motorcycle/Industry/Conspiracy, that flashes me a pair of tits, or some shapely female legs'n'hips bits, or a seductive pair of eyes, confident that it will result in me being automatically led-by-my-dick, in a hypnotised-consumer-zombiefied-simple-mindedly brainwashed stylee, into handing over fistfuls of €uros to purchase whatever crapola product is so cynically, chauvinistically promoted by blatantly commercialised pulchritude … Aaaggghhh … It’s a genuine, Designer Logo'd, genetic imperative, helluva jungle out there.
Ya gotta do what ya gotta fashionably do to thrive and survive.
But Please, between sarcasms, ‘Do as you would be done by.’
We owe it to our children to safeguard for as long as possible their innocence … guiding them into knowledge of the harsh realities of the world we have allowed to become their future.
Of course, after all is said and done ... we're all doomed ... each and every one of us.
We have an exciting announcement! (Sadly it’s not: ‘The Sun just called saying they’re going to start valuing women for more than their bodies’!)
We’ve teamed up with the terrific Everyday Sexism Project, and some of the fantastic comedians who’ve supported us to create a brilliant, irreverent night of stand up comedy.
From a feminist drag burlesque to a women’s rights rap, a group of brilliant comedians led by Lucy Porter come together to stand up for women. To show girls growing up in 2012 that they won't be judged on their looks alone, that ‘assets’ means more than just breasts, that they don't have to hit a glass ceiling or feel scared to walk alone at night.
On Sunday 18th November, the same weekend the Sun celebrates the anniversary of Page 3, please join us and help us smash the stereotype that campaigning for women’s rights is stuffy or serious or straight laced!
7pm at The Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End. (To end by 9.30pm in time for trains home!)
All profits go to the End Violence Against Women Coalition.
Re: Message from the Lucy Holmes that started the petition.
Who is being exploited here is it men or women ?
The Sun pay good looking girls ,well it's a job ain't it? For pic,s of there bodies to exploit men who just got to look and buy their paper to see what their missing.
There is nothing wrong with looking if the girls don't mind , and if they minded they wouldn't do it would they.
The female body is beautiful thing with more varied curves than you could count or measure.
In third world countries know one bats an eyelid if your not dressed they live with it because its not considered tabo, so why should it be considered tabo here just because some women don't like it or they think its wrong, grow up, keep your clothes on if you want and don't go on the beach in swimwear God know someone might take a picture of you and send it to the sun
Viva page three and long may it empower women over us weak mined males who crave beauty.
