Got some new parts for my rebuild just thought i'd share a few pics. Dunno if i've gone mad with powdercoating fever but it looks very bling.:toothy8::toothy8::toothy8::toothy8::toothy8:
Upside down fork in the work and 780cc forged pistons?
As a side note, if these are indeed oversize forged pistons, they are most likely 85mm diameter. Once you overbore the cylinder, I strongly suggest you recoat the walls with Nikasil. Otherwise the walls will wear out very, very quick.
Well done Lee spot on. They are oversize but 83mm diameter do you think they will wear out quick? I got them as a kit from Gro?ew?chter who seem to be a fairly reputable engine builder but they didn't mention any coatings.
I have some friend who fitted 85mm JE pistons 10,000km ago, without recoating the cylinders. Walls are completely scrapped. Huge oil consumption and major ring land wear that can easily be felt by your fingers. There's a reason why the cylinders were initially treated to Nikasil. But the depth of the original process is very limited. Once you overbore the cylinders, you are way past the original penetration.
