How many teeth are on each sprocket of a 2001 XL650V Transalp? going to replace them so should I buy the 15 or 17 tooth front sprocket? Or the 39-49 tooth sprocket for the back!!

Cheers

Hi , quick reply do a search under gearing on the transalp search section, loads different views . Bt bloke is good and mudwiz general consensus go up front for higher gearing [lower reves at a given speed]or down for lower gearing off road.

its far easier to change front sproket than rear

I you want slightly better road gearing go for 16 front and 47 rear.
You lose a little of acceleration but it is not too bad.

Hi David, changing to 16 tooth front works really well, longer legs, more relaxed cruising and still OK in the dirt except for the really steep stuff, if need be carry the 15 tooth with you a doddle to change back.

Cheers
