Will I lose many rpm's when cruising on freeways dropping down to a 47 tooth sprocket from a 49 on the bike . I've been looking on site and not finding much about rpm drop. I was hoping for a 45 tooth myself but cannot find one . Also will I need to shorten chain at all for those who have done it. Thanks for any info

47 teeth ---> 45 teeth = 95.7% = 4.3% reduction in RPM at a given speed

So, if you were riding at 5,000RPM, then you'll be doing 4,785 RPM for the same linear speed

I also would be interested to find out how a 47T would preform.

Of all the TA & AT the RD03 has the biggest rear sprocket, dropping from a 49 to a 47 should increase fuel efficiency but would it run well?? Has anybody experience with this setup on a RD03

I'm putting the 47 tooth on next trip. I'm going to keep looking for a 45 though. I did find a 43 but that seems to be a rather large gearing drop but you never know. I'll find out . Thanks for info

I'm using a 47 T rear sprocket. Speed is around 90 km/h at 4000 rpm.

I can't say anything about fuel consumption because I've never used the bike with a 49t rear sprocket.
Offroad use is still nice, first gear is still very short.
