riding down m8 near glasgow - slow down at exit - squeak squeak - hmmm - stop - look at rear swing arm - nearly faint - 3 of 5 nuts holding rear sprocket are loose - chewing into swingarm - 4th is loose - so sprocket held on by one bolt - no vibrations - no handling problems - just squeak warning after deceleration. :shock: :shock: :shock:

new chain fitted - 40 miles - sprocket wasnae touched by mechanic

any ideas - how?

Hence the Reason for using a Torque Wrench, [nice word wrench,sort of sexual] :oops:

As you probably know, you shouldn't really change the chain only, you should always change chain & sprockets together. my guess is that the mechanic went to take off the rear sprocket, then thought that he should check what the job was again, got distracted, then put on a new chain without doing up the bolts he had undone on the rear sprocket. Very hard to prove........
