I have had a fair bit of success with carefully prying a little opening with a small screwdriver at the inboard end of the grip and squirting in a bit of wd40. Give it a few minutes then firmly twist that end of the grip back and forth with your hand. If your lucky you should feel it give a bit and you will be able to get the wd40 tube in a bit further and so on. Good luck. When you put grips on lube them with wd40, they slip on really easily and the wd40 dries up and the grips lock fine.
When you come to refit the grips, I've had a good success with hairspray. Provides good lube to install then dries to secure grip to the bar.
You might get some strange looks when shopping for hairspray though
my transalp came with oxford heated grips that did not work . one evening in a spell of scorching weather with the bike parked out in the sun the heat was so much it softened the glue on the twist grip . I thought it was the cable broke at first so I stuck a stone up on the carb end of the throttle to get me home . so I think a hair dryer of heat gun used very very carefully might work . I actualy pulled the offending grip clean off its wire so that was the end of that . nail polish remover squirted in there with a syringe might work too its acetone vicious stuff though don't get on on your paint . hairspray is good stuff to get grips to stick to bars apparently never tried it myself . haven't even seen any since the 80's me sister used to stink the place out of it getting ready to go out for 14 pints of lager curry chips and a shag of a Saturday night
Shoe Goo, can't remember where I got it, may have been online. I stuck a heel back on my dealer boots a couple of years back and despite use and abuse it is still on
.
thank you very much Paul I will probably give it a bash come to think of it I probably have about 4 pairs of boots in need of attention . it reminds me 20 odd years ago I went to an out door illegal rave ran by new age travellers I knew the site as I had been there before I knew some of lads from buying a bit of hash and befriended some of the more motorbike inclined lads . it was massive the weather was scorching I was on a Honda shadow 1100 and had on army surplus para boots german I think they were well the heel was hanging off one that's all I wore for years and years as they kept the feet dry . I got into the spirit of things and popped a dove for the first time . it probably made my dancing a bit funny looking 2 arms and one leg going mad a one foot just left flat on the ground so I didn't lose the sole completely . I lost my mind though I think I still have the boots in the attic . there was some proper ***** turned up trying to wreck peoples heads the coppers stepped in and banned them a few years later as the local stoners were being carted off to the nut house . they should have stuck to neil young and a bit of hash so I never bothered going to another one went to plenty of clubs and house partys after though . I ended up an insane skeleton for a finish before I sorted myself out . I still have a prodigy t shirt that's over 20 years old :toothy8: I have settled down now though a good few years with a family and all nothing stronger then beer any more but only 2 pints at a time the odd time or if I feel like going completely ape shit 4 cans of strong cider maybe only once a year in the summer time . I'm a reformed Hoor these days I don't stir out at all only for a spin on the bike no pubs rally's or nothing .
If they've separate (plastic rather than rubber) end covers then you may be able to pop them off and blow hot air inside, which normally softens the glue.
No rug, and the hair loss had more to do with the EX than any form of hair drying....
I just wish I'd understood that fact a few years earlier, so I may have just got away with thinning hair ...:teeth:
if I had went bald I would have bought a rug just for the skit a really shitty looking one and put it on when I'm in far away places just to watch people's reaction . a bloke I used to be around who fancied himself as a smart bastard was in the habit of ribbing me he was bald so I said he should buy a wig just to have for special occasions like weddings and things like that should have seen the face on him and I only messing . I realised it was a sore point with him . he could give it but he couldn't take it . :hitler:
