Hi Folks,
I have the top end of my dommie just now to replace the piston rings. I was looking at the steel rocker cover gasket and wondering if it was possible to reuse by cleaning all the rubber off it with scotchbrite/wire wool and then coating both sides with RTV before refitting. Any thoughts/experience gratefully recieved as this gasket is evem more expensive than the head gasket.
cheers
Stewart

You really don't want RTV squishing out into the oil. You may be able to get away with diluting a solvent based sealant with thinners and painting it on to get it thin enough but the original is sprayed on. I'd go for a new one.

I have re-used them with very thin use of a quality sealant but if you've got the time and cash get a new one.

i used high temperature, fuel, oil resistant sealant/gasket maker. it may sound like "sh*t job" but it works... also you can try wet copper spray. or just buy new one of course ;]
