Re: Stolen Mk1 Escort

sounds like it was stolen to order, these are getting thin on the ground now. probably someone who wants to reshell a rally car or a mex or rs.
very hard to track down especially if seen heading north,i wish you luck anyway,I've lost a couple of these over the years and it's gutting.

Gutted , my XR 400 went missing 1 week ago from Derbyshire, its very distinctive see pic.

There is a reward for info leading to the return of this bike or even just the name of the SCROTE that took it.

I wont go into details about all the custom parts which are 1 off,s due to the fact it could be read by the person who took it and therefore they would know what to change but a lot of the bike is refabricated and a lot of aftermarket parts fitted too.

Thanks

Dazz

Re: Stolen Mk1 Escort

He has put this on the RD forum yesterday and i think he is still looking but i am sure the thanks apply to all here as well

Still no sign of the car. Thanks for all your help. I actually got a call from Penrith Police who told me what Northants Police should be doing. I also got an email from NI Police advising me to contact Eire Police and provided me with a link. Northants Police did contact me and said they were going to check the ANPR system, but this was almost a month after the theft.
Ebay pulled the advert and issued me with a warning, but I have had a fantastic response from car and rally clubs. If you google MK1 Escort YVJ 548K, it's everywhere. If nothing else it may have got the people a little worried.

Thanks everyone.

Stolen suzuki drz 400s

My DRZ went walkies from outside my house over the weekend while I was away.

The thieving scumbags cut right through the chain and must have wheeled it away leaving the chain dangling in the ground anchor. Neighbour heard the chain being pulled through the wheel on Saturday night about 11.30pm but didn't know we were away. The worrying/scary part is that it was almost certainly scoped out, or we disturbed their prior theft attempt, on Thursday evening about half an hour after I got in from work on the bike...while were sat in the house.

It's a blue and white, or white and blue 2001 Suzuki DRZ 400S Reg Y949 GDW. It has a white UFO tail light/rear end (not seen one on another bike), ally bashplate, ally chainguard, renthal bars, renthal grips, blue UFO handguards, a rear rack, Rugged Roads sticker on the front mudguard, Dunlop knobblies, a Stella Alpina sticker on the rear fender and a tool/lock bag bolted to the rear rack (rear rack is non-standard to these bikes) with a discreet XRV National 08 sticker underneath, big DRZ stickers on the forks and swingarm, shiny manual cam chain tensioner, rear-peg eliminator etc etc etc.

Eyes peeled please peeps. :(

Re: Stolen suzuki drz 400s

Feel for you mate,
We've had two bikes stolen. First my daughters from outside a friends house then mine from the back of our house. The police caught both sets of thieving scum.

First ones got done for preventing the return on anothers property (same penalty as for thieving it) they said they found it in a ditch so it difficult to prove they had stolen it.

Second ones left a palm print, claimed it was from being given a lift and didnt know it was stolen. I gave a statement pointing out the carbs were in the garage and not on the bike. How did he get a lift on a non runner? Magistrates took a dim view of the story. As well as the penalty he was ordered to pay all my costs out of his own pocket. This is an attachment to earnings so every time he is paid, I get some of his hard earned cash.
They dont get it their way all the time.
Good luck.

Re: STOLEN

Not recovered , no leads yet, i have,nt claimed on the insurance as its my trade policy and although the bike was probably worth a grand or thereabouts the policy would go up more than that so i have,nt claimed. To be honest its not the money , i just want to know who took it, if someone has innocently bought the bike since, they are welcome to keep it as long as i get the sellers name.

I will then deliver some good ole fashioned justice and recoup my financial loss one way or another from the thief.;)

You must tell your insurer.

Insurance is based on a contract called upmost good faith, whihc means you have to tell them everything they need to know. Unde the contract, not telling something mateiral is the same as lying about it.

If you do not tell your insurer you have had this bike stolen they are within their rights to cancel your policy when you come to make a claim later, because you have not told them all the information they need to accurately assess the risk.

All they will have to do is refund you your premium.

Re: Stolen suzuki drz 400s

Update; A guy in the street that runs parallel to mine heard someone trying to bump start a bike on the night in question, a few minutes after my neighbour heard the chain being pulled through the wheel.

He didn't think anything of it until a day or two later when he found an ignition barrel out in the street.

Soooooooooo....it kinda rules out "professional" thieves as they'd have wheeled it straight into van and been away. More than likely it's local kids/pikeys/scooter chavs in which case it may well still be in the locality.

I've been walking the area looking behind bushes and up driveways etc but no luck so far. I'll keep looking though...you never know.
