Hello, I was changing my main air filter over the weekend and decided to have a look at the "sub filter" too. part nr 17259-MCB-610, it pretty much disintegrated when i was cleaning it....
so have two question's
what does it do (i like to know these things)
what can I replace it with, as there seems to be a shortage of them out there

Just buy a sheet of air filter foam from ebay and cut to size & viola - it filters 'dirty' air breathed in.

They are all like that after a certain age, as Wicky says just use a bit of filter foam.
As I recall, it filters the air above the carb diaphragm

Thanks guy's for the reminder...changed mine with some sheet air filter material cut to size about five years ago...Think i'll have to have a look to see if it's fell to bits like the originals too....think it was a make called " Ram Air " originally bought for the lawn mower...
