Your help is called on to solve this annoying issue!
A few weeks ago, my 2001 RDO7 (19,000 miles) developed a handlebar shake and a 'pogo' stick type motion in the handlebars at around 50mph. You could actually see the bar go up and down, not by a huge amount, but enough to be an issue.
To try solve it, I changed the (and balanced) the tyre, wheel bearings, put in new fork oil, seals and dust covers.
Unfortunately, it did not cure the 'pogo' stick problem, it did change that speed it happens at to around 40 mph.
The back wheel looks fine with no problems.
I welcome your thoughts....please!
Pat.

Hi VintageIreland, if the back wheel/tyre/tube is ok, then I suggest getting the back wheel balance checked. Mine developed a similar behaviour due to loosing some balance weights.
Hope this helps, if not please keep us posted on your solution. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.
So far, I have changed the front tyre, bearings, rebuilt the fork legs and fitted new head bearings...all to no avail!
Tomorrow I will look at the back wheel etc..

Is your front rim still round??

Any loose or broken spokes?? Sometimes a spoke nipple will break at the rim junction and appear perfectly normal until you check spoke tension.

Have you had any sudden impacts to the front rim? Curbs or riding in rock gardens?
