T'other day it was suggested that the noise from my cylinder heads was due to no exhaust gaskett. I pinched them up front and rear and lo and behold - much improved. However, the front still had a niggling tap, too noisy for tappets so I was unsure.

Today, I fitted new grommets to my bash plate and when I took the bash plate off ... out dropped and exhaust nut!!

Refitted it and now ... no more nasty taps!!

Moral of the story - check checking your nuts as often as you can or they might drop off!

I have in the past known the studs to work loose.
Tightening the nut the stud pulled out of the casing, had to re-tap and locktite in.
