the first prototype of honda transalp

google translation from italian magazine

"It was 1985 when the Japanese engineers began to design the first prototype of what would have been the heir to the XVL750R, but with a completely different connotation. From an old press kit '97, emitted during the first 10 years of the model we were able to recover some slides showing how the first prototype Transalp still had the upper front fender and had no fairing, very similar to XLV 750 and XL600 . Also adopted a 500 cc engine derived from that of the VT500"

It looks good. More complete than my Transrat ever did!
It's interesting to see that it looks like a Transalp in every aspect bar the soon to be added front fairing, even the tank shape looks like the final production shape.

Nice find

It has been on this site for years Honda XL 600V but never seen it elsewhere, do you have a link or was it a paper copy?

I really wish Honda would re-release the Transalp with a 750cc parallel twin engine, with more "retro" styling
