Hello out there!

I have a problem.

I bought a complete new keyset for my 2001 650 Transalp, but the new ignition lock does not work withe the old HISS system..
The old ignition lock works fine withe HISS, but the new lock does not.

How do I pair a new lock and key to HISS ??

Help would be appriciated :)

Best regards from Denmark.

as i understand it....

the key is paired to the CDI unit

the lock is generic and is just mechanical. ie it cant be "paired"

the black ring thing around the lock reads the code from the key and sends the code to the CDI unit. if the CDI unit recognises the code (ie the key is the correct one) then it allows a spark to reach the plugs

hence, even if a thief forces the ignition lock, the bike wont start as the CDI has not received the code from the key

I Know :)

What i am Looking for is an easy solution.

But I think that I have to visit my local Honda dealer to fix the problem.

Which of course will cost me som hard earned money.

Shit happens 😏

if you look at the video links you can do it yourself i think
I have just whatched 2 videos thru the link.

And I may have a solution to use the new key and lock.
By simpley moving the chip form the old key/lock, over into one of the new keys for the new lock.
That way I can use one of the new keys, and the lock set.

I then still have one new key, that is not working.

If the local Honda mechanic can help me code in this new key, that does not have the old key chip, then that is what i'll do.
The alternative is to follow one of the DIY previously postet in this thread. Including making a makeshift wire.

However I will rather have Honda Motorcycle dealer do it with Honda tools :)

I will take the matter up with my local mechanic on Tuesday.

An if everything goes to shit, I will still have one NEW key (with old chip) and all new lock-set.

That is the plan so far :)

Thanks guys.

Moving the key chip from the old key to the new key worked like a charm :)
Easy to swap around. Just remember to glue the lid back on :)

just make sure you don't lose the key. if you lose the one key, then it's going to cost you a lot to replace the CDIs and the keys and the lock
