Transalp XL600 Engine Restriction Details for production years 1987 - 1990

There appear to be changes to the carburettor jetting on restricted models. I'll post up these details when I've worked out what they are.

This page hopes to detail which XL600V Transalp engines were restricted and also how they were restricted.

There were a number of changes from year to year, so I will present the information for each year of production and provide as much detail as available to me.

Also, the Honda Area (Market) Codes are my best guess. Again, if you know better then let me know.

Production year 1987 - XL600V-H.

Full Power models for markets AR (Austria), CM (?), E (England), F/YB (France), FI (Finland), G (German), IT (Italy), ND (Netherlands), SP (Spain) and U (?).

Restricted models for Germany (G/27P) and Switzerland (SW).

All models have the same cam-shafts and CDI units, the only changes were to the Inlet Rubbers, which are called "Insulator, Carburetor" by Honda.

Standard Inlet Rubbers, Part No: 16211-MM9-000

Restricted models.

Market - Germany (Honda Area Code "G/27P")

Restriction indicated by change in engine number from full power models.

Engine Nos: PD06E-3000003 to 3000102

Inlet Rubbers (called "Insulator, Carburetor" by Honda): 16211-MM9-710

Market - Switzerland (Honda Area Code "SW")

Engine Nos: PD06E-5000043 to 5014613

Inlet Rubbers (called "Insulator, Carburetor" by Honda): 16211-MM9-680

The only way to check is to inspect the part number on the inlet rubbers.

Production year 1988 - XL600V-J.

Full Power models for markets E (England), F/YB (France), FI (Finland), G (German), IT (Italy), ND (Netherlands) and SP (Spain).

Restricted models for Austria (AR), CM (?), Germany (G/27P) and Switzerland (SW).

All models have the same cam-shafts, the changes were to the Inlet Rubbers and CDI Units.

Standard Inlet Rubbers, Part No: 16211-MM9-000 OR 16211-MS8-000. It is not clear why this came about as this is the only production year that this occurs - maybe the same part produced by different manufacturers?

Standard CDI Unit, Part No: 30410-MM9-008

Restricted models.

Market - Austria (Honda Area Code "AR")

Engine Nos: PD06E-5105118 to 5107748

CDI Unit, Part No: 30410-MM9-830

Note: There are two part codes for the Inlet Rubbers, either Part No: 16211-MM9-000 or 16211-MS8-000

The only way to check is to inspect the part number on the CDI Unit.

Market - ? (Honda Area Code "CM")

All models for this market are restricted and they are differentiated by unique engine numbers.

Engine Nos: PD06E-2100001 to 2100004 (ONLY 4 models apparently!)

Inlet Rubbers (called "Insulator, Carburetor" by Honda), Part No: 16211-MS8-000

Market - Finland (Honda Area Code "FI")

It is not clear that this is a restricted variant but does have a different CDI Unit.

Engine Nos: PD06E-5107104 to 5107393

CDI Unit, Part No: 30410-MM9-830

Note: There are two part codes for the Inlet Rubbers, either Part No: 16211-MM9-000 or 16211-MS8-000

The only way to check is to inspect the part number on the CDI Unit.

Market - Germany (Honda Area Code "G/27P")

Restriction indicated by change in engine number from full power models and is by change of CDI Unit and Inlet Rubbers.

Engine Nos: PD06E-3100001 to 3100202

Inlet Rubbers (called "Insulator, Carburetor" by Honda), Part No: 16211-MM9-710

CDI Unit, Part No: 30410-MM9-830

Market - Germany (Honda Area Code "G")

It is not clear that this is a restricted variant but does have a different CDI Unit.

Engine Nos: PD06E-5103373 to 5106083

CDI Unit, Part No: 30410-MM9-830

Note: There are two part codes for the Inlet Rubbers, either Part No: 16211-MM9-000 or 16211-MS8-000

The only way to check is to inspect the part number on the CDI Unit.

Market - Switzerland (Honda Area Code "SW")

Engine Nos: PD06E-5102057 to 5103372

Inlet Rubbers (called "Insulator, Carburetor" by Honda): 16211-MM9-68016211-MM9-680

The only way to check is to inspect the part number on the inlet rubbers.
