I've just been to the Spanish Pyrenees for a navigation rally. Eight of us travelled down through France on various bikes ranging from a DR350 up to a KTM 950 super enduro.

My Dakar ran superbly, it never used any oil and averaged nearly 72mpg which included the trail-riding bits but I will definetly be doing something about the soft front-end and the ridiculous side-stand.

Some piccies.............

taking a rest at a sucessful climb to a check point

a cute sounding French village

lunch at Honfleur before boarding the ferry for home

a great trip overall made all the better by taking the Dakar

Dear Boboneleg,

I am seriously considering taking 'The Goat' 1998 Transalp, for a spin there early next summer, if not late September.

Could you please post the route and ferry crossings used.

Great pics, looks stunning.

The photos were actually taken in my garden. It's amazing how a wide-angle lens can make the far end of the garden appear further away than it really is. The sign to the "cute sounding French village" is actually the sign to our house.
