Hi all.
Just wondering if installing VTR Cams into a 2002 Carbed Varadero is a worthwhile mod?
Just the VTR Cams and not the VTR carbs
Would there be much gain to be had just from this VTR cams alone?
Thanks.

Hi, worth while? It depends how you ride. I'd say they're both similar in power up to 5000 rpm. So if you don't ride above that & just rely on the lazy torque there's no point.

The Vtr cams enable it to keep on pulling very hard up to the red line. I never tried with standard carbs so can't advise.

Once you do it you'll look at fitting a set of Vtr carbs as well. You'll be shocked at the performance increase.

The camshaft base line's are the same, so if they're not worn & measure the same they should swap out with no tappet shim adjustment.

I'd say 10 bhp for each, both = 20 bhp & it may not sound much but it is.

If you do go down the carb swap route, ignore most of what I've written on the vtr carb conversion set up & just go standard jetting.

You'll love it.
