They are the standard Honda fitments and the Honda Panniers fit to them

No idea but my money would be on OE Honda ones.

Yes I can confirm they are honda racks, unfortunately you will find the only boxes that fit those racks are the actual honda boxes. They do come up on ebay occasionally and is also worth checking ebay europe-wide as thay do come up regularly in germany.

I had a honda set on mine before I changed to touratech and ally boxes

Right found a few bits on fleabay,
these are the colour panels for your bike (the honda boxes are plain grey, you add colour panels to suit your bike) HONDA XL650 PANNIER COLOUR PANEL SET. on eBay (end time 28-Feb-10 19:52:11 GMT)

there is one box at lings honda, you might get it for a song and have to search/wait for the other side or maybe get one from silvers etc, lings may know of a dealer who has one lying around or you could ring round some breakers HONDA XL1000 XL650 TRANSALP VARADERO USED LH PANNIER on eBay (end time 12-Mar-10 09:56:50 GMT)

that's all of europe searched, put a search in ebay and save it and you'll know if any come up for sale when they email you.

if you ring around you might find some honda dealers may have recently replaced some crash damaged panniers on an insurance job, usually the lids are scuffed but the important bit, the black plastic with the fittings, is ok. cover the lids with fibreglass and paint them and youve got a pair of panniers for peanuts. if youre not too fussy.

Pity you're not nearer to Thattherefancylondon, else you could take mine. They're scatched to buggery but sound in every way and I barely use them. I'd not mind them going for a spin round Spain. I doubt the offer's any use, but let me know if you want to pick them up on the way past.

Sometimes the bikes are traded in or sold on and people don't know how to remove them. The honda ones are a bit tricky because you have to replace a few nuts and bolts when you fit them/remove them so can look a bit daunting when it comes to fitting and removing at the moving on stage of the bike. I suppose it's just like buying a bike with the quick release plate for the top box fitted to the rear rack when the bike has no top box, as thay come as a matching pair it would make sense to remove both or neither.

Thanks for the kind offer. We are not camping so by only taking the top box it will stop me taking too many clothes that I will not need.

I purchased the bike from a dealer with racks on but no panniers, that reminds me I must contact the previous owner to see if he still has them.
