Wow! I have finally graduated and just got awarded ‘THE BEST ESSAY’! :blob7:I’m so excited I wanted to share my news with all my friends. I know it’s not biking but it’s one of my other great passions in life....

As an undiagnosed Dyslexic I struggled at school and never had the confidence to go to University... but having re-trained in later years as a specialist teacher, I then recently embarked on my most challenging journey of studies. Last year I completed a very well recognised and acknowledge Diploma in my field of work which qualifies me to assess and teach students with specific learning difficulties (the level of study is equivalent to the first year of a Masters Degree). It involved an enormous amount of dedication and determination under significantly adverse conditions (multiple other life stresses going on at the same time!)

Well, last night (Friday 1st May) was the evening of the long awaited graduation ceremony, to mark the academic achievement of the survivors of this course! Obviously I knew I had passed and would be receiving my certificate and I was pleased with my efforts because my final dissertation essay had been marked with a distinction (first distinction in my life!).... however, what I didn’t know until the very final presentation was that I was to be presented with a special award/trophy for THE BEST ESSAY amongst my peers!

I can hardly begin to express what this meant to me... and in true ‘girly’ fashion I was choked with tears as I received my accolade for what, to me, represented the culmination of all my efforts to overcome those nagging doubts and adversities that could have held me back!!:D

No mortar hat and gown unfortunately.... but my biggest achievement nevertheless and a few pics of me on the evening: -

Well done.

Why is dyslexia such a hard word to spell?

Why are learning difficulties and learning disabilities two completely different things yet sound so alike?

Whoever came up with these names should be shot.

Never a doubt on here that you'd won best essay.;)
