hi,

i went out green laning today and my xr 400 was terrible with any water i.e cutting out, missing, nightmare to start.

are there any electrics that are common to get wet on the xr's?

anyone else have these problems?

Fit a mudflap to the rear of the front mudguard

How deep was the water it can be the above and also the breathers for your carb, if you T piece the breather and route it up high it can help a lot.

Take the tank off and give every connector a good spray with WD40, I had a simillar thing on my 600 that turned out to be the plug cap arking.

didnt seem to matter how deep the water was. If i hit a puddle with any speed and it would do it, or in a few river crossings that were wheel deep.

Plug cap should be ok if it the yellow standard silicone one never heard of them failing, if it's an aftermarket one that somebodies put on it's quite possible that it is the problem

Mine was a standard one, very small hole in it.
