Electric / Fuel pump isues

Hi everyone,

I recently changed the Fuel Pump to a Facet. My mechanic advised me that this one probably had more Amps than the old one, but everyone uses the Facet Pumps, so I put it anyway.

The thing is that now the lights are not stable. In idle, the tripmaster light blinks at the rythm of the engine.(more visible at night)

Also i have a voltmeter and it not as stable as it used to be.

My mechanic told me to check if the Pump relay gets too hot after a medium/long ride. I checked but it doesn't seem too hot.

Did any of you had similar problems after installing the Facet Pump?
Did you make any changes to the electrics? For what i read, the instalation is straight forward...

Which model number of Facet have you fitted?

The number is 574A, just like the one on the long mounting post on this forum .

facet 40105 2 - 3.5 psi, anything higher & there's excess fuel probs. there is a newer model out with a new fudget/gadget/thigymajig.

Welcome to the forums. So...I'm assuming the pump works and is getting 12 volts? Next question...what is the DC voltage across
the battery with the engine running? You may have a charging system issue.
Do the following. It's for a car but the voltages are the same.

I tested that once and it was with the right voltage. I'll try it now with the new component, and report back.

Just need to borrow a multimeter...

The pump is 12v and on a relay so I cant see it making any difference at all ...... I ran hoooge spot lights o relays on my Gs with no ill effects ....... Id start by checking the battery I reckon

Sooooooo i found the problem.
The battery connector (+) was loose...

now everything works perfectly.

I checked the voltage and it's ok.

However i found a "gift" from the last owner. The GPS plug is connected directly to the battery

Next time I service the bike, i'll have to fix that.
