I can’t take my eyes off these pics.:love10: This is the mod that I wish to perform, but with the front fender of the Gauloises one (looks like the ADV950).
As I can see, the mod is perfect. The ignition lock fits perfectly (even the thing that holds the cables), the speedometer cable on the wheel, everything! I wish you to enjoy it and expect to read from you soon regarding the performance, the adjustments and other stuff like how much oil and what grade must be used for this one. SUPER!! Enjoy it!! :thumb:

Bob, I had mentioned the Stella to Whealie because it might clash with our AT Club's annual night ride.
If not I will probably come up to Bardo to meet you guys.
Otherwise I had also suggested that anyone who wants to come for the night ride is welcome; mx tyres necessary though.
Last year the guys met in Susa (40 km from Bardo) at 6.30 pm, went for a ride until around 11 pm, dinner up in the mountains and off again all night till early morning.
This year will be my first one, so I can't miss it.

By the way, tomorrow morning I'm going to the racing venue to help set up the course... no doubt I'll also ride a few practice laps that will prove to be crucial on sunday!

On sunday, during our first club meeting, I'll try to take some more pics of nice ATs.

Regarding the mods, I bought the Marzocchi forks and Ohlins shock from Boano, a Honda dealer and ex Dakar racer.
Both units have been specifically revalved for the AT by Andreani Racing Suspension.
The shock is 9 mm longer than std and the stock linkage is used.
Head bearings have been replaced with the Rd03 type.
The whole bike is about 5/6 cm taller than before and much stiffer; both centre and side stands have been lengthened by 5 cm.
As far as I know, these suspension components can also be bought from African Queens, maybe with slightly different specs.
I have not done the mods myself because I'm not equipped well enough in my garage, but I think anyone with reasonable mechanical skills and a bit of spare time could do it.

First time I rode it the front end felt slightly vague because of the mx tyres; after a while you get used to it.
The whole package really shines when you start going fast offroad.
To be honest, if you want to use the AT for easy trail riding, a good rear shock and fork springs are more than enough.
Anyway, as soon as I took her offroad and twisted the right grip properly, it all came together.
Basically what I have now is a big motocross bike... and believe me, the grin factor is way up there!

Is it worth it?
Well, it's a lot of money to throw on an old bike, so it basically depends on your budget, plus you should ask yourself - do I really need this for the riding I do?
I bought the AT as a do-it-all-sunday-ride-with-girlfriend bike, but I was so impressed with it that I've turned it into a good offroader because that's what I'll be using it for and I absolutely don't regret it.
And one more thing... I can just look at it for hours and always turn away with a big smile.

I wonder if you would be able to help me out concerning the enclosed two images.

Would you have any information concerning both the red AT and the blue AT (the one on the left of the image with the Italian Flag) shown below. I believe they might be members in your club. If you do know anything about these machines (like specification/parts bodykits / crash bars / exhausts / shocks etc) I would be extremely grateful if you could let me know.

Have just bought an 1990 AT and am really taken with the look of the enclosed bikes.

Hey Breeze I know you said Dont ask.. But i have to.. mainly cus i am in the process of planning the new suspention for mine.. I am going with the Ohlins.. but have not made a decsion on the frount.. 1) how much did your usd fork set up cost? 2) Where did you get it? £) was it worth it?

This front fork conversion is the very same that AfricanQueens sells. The AfricanQueens one has a better looking wheel fender according to my taste (similar to the 950 ADV).

I believe that some aluminium manufacturer makes the clamps to fit the Marzocchi 50mm forks on the AT and that Boano and AfricanQueens just stick their brand label-tag on. The forks are MX universal and are provided by Marzocchi, but with 2 significant differences. The ones that Marzocchi provides directly are for use on MX bikes with 1 base for a brake calliper on the left fork. My guess is that Boano and AfricanQueens are ordering 2 left forks from Marzocchi in order to make the AT front fork set, since the AT has 2 brake callipers. 2 small brake calliper bases are also used and sold together in order to fit the AT callipers on the Marzocchi forks.

The second difference is the fork springs used. Marzocchi provides the forks for light-weight MX bikes and Boano and AfricanQueens replace them with ones that can support the weight of the AT.
Finally comes the wheel shaft which is probably custom made in order to fit the AT wheel on the Marzocchi forks.
This completes the set and it is sold for 2600 Euros more or less.
