Hi all, as mentioned in previous posts, I am trying to resurrect one of these beasts.
Unfortunately the fuel tank is beyond it,(no filler cap & full of rust & dents) so I was wondering if the tank from any other XL/XR model would fit without too much hassle. I'm doing this on a budget, so the cheaper the better!:D

This MAY be useful to you, but it might also be a bit too late!

I saw a UK (twin headlamp) LMF that had been broken, criminally, because the engine had been used for a quad. The rest of the bike was present and the owner was thinking of selling off the remains of the bike or as parts I think. Everything else from the bike was there and in pretty good condition, including the tank in good original colours, side panels, and front UK twin headlamp fairing.

Bike was parked outside, Motorcycle Junction, 60 Mill Hall, Aylesford, ME20 7JN, 07955 916191

Hope that helps, PLEASE let me know how you get on.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate that. Will ring up about that lmf on Monday to see if it's still there, if not then a measure up may be in order. On another note, I got a complete generator cover with ALL intermediate gears for the starter from german ebay last week, so I will have a cover going spare for a few beer tokens if anyone is interested?;)

Well, I called the bod at motorcycle junction & the lmf was a customers so not for sale.:(
If Jim would be so kind as to take some measurements or photo's or both, that would be great!
I suppose the important ones would be, front tank rubber mounting width, overall length of tank & the width of the mounting bit at the rear of the tank. Also, does the rear have two bolt holes or one?
Many thanks in advance!

Clayton.
