Not 100% but I would've thought that even new cases would have an engine number on them for traceability purposes. If you have the V5c for the bike then buy some number/letter stamps & put them in place yourself. If anybody asks when you come to sell the bike then just say that they're new crankcases.

 

I had a tzr250 years ago, that I blew up, totally knackered it, to the extent it needed new crankcases, they came blank with no number stamped on.
You can re-stamp the original engine number on with a set of punches as 416 says, but it will never look the same as a factory stamped part, never bothered me, just left it blank.

 

Does the V5 have an engine number?

 

I'm sure mine did, just never bothered getting the engine stamped

 

Hi, my XR has no engine number either , and simply says "unknown" on the V5. It does give the frame number, It has MOT and is legal............What could this mean ?

 

I would of thought it's had replacement crankcases at some point, that leave the factory unstamped
